David Frid, MD, is a staff physician in the Section of Preventive Cardiology, Robert and Suzanne Tomsich Department of Cardiovascular Medicine in the Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart & Vascular Institute. He is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. Dr. Frid is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Medicine and also holds a Masters degree in Nutrition from the University of Maryland. He completed his residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in Preventive Cardiology and Behavioral Medicine there and a fellowship in Cardiology at Duke University Medical Center. Between 1989 and 1993 Dr. Frid held various positions at Duke Medical Center, ending as Director of Cardiac Rehabilitation and Assistant Professor of Medicine. After leaving Duke, Dr. Frid began a long association with the Ohio State University Medical Center where he was Medical Director of the Center for Wellness and Prevention, the Executive Health Program, the National Center of Excellence in Womens Health and the Division of Lifestyle Enhancement. While on staff at Ohio State, Dr. Frid was Director of Preventive and Rehabilitative Cardiology and Assistant Professor of Medicine, followed by Assistant Professor of Public Health in the Ohio State University School of Public Health. From Ohio State he moved to Pfizer Corp. as a regional director of cardiovascular research, the position he held immediately prior to his appointment to the Cleveland Clinic medical staff. Dr. Frid is the author or co-author of more than 60 articles, reviews and abstracts on treating heart disease, cardiac rehabilitation and cardiac risk factors. He serves as editor or reviewer on several prominent medical journals, including Annals of Behavioral Medicine and the Journal of Cardiovascular Rehabilitation. He is a fellow of the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation and is a member of the American Heart Association and the National Lipid Association.
