Meet Dr. Lurye
Dave Lurye DDS
Dr. Dave Lurye is a 1985 graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. In addition to his education in Minnesota, he was an exchange student with the University of Bergen Dental School in Bergen, Norway in 1984. Dr. Lurye served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Public Health Service, Indian Health Service branch, and worked in three different hospital clinics during his time as a dental officer and then as a contract dentist for the IHS.
Dr. Lurye has been involved in organized dentistry for many years, having been president of the Western Colorado Dental Society headquartered in Grand Junction, to being on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Academy of General Dentistry.
Dave started the Winter Park Dental Practice in 1988. He has volunteered since 2002 teaching one day per week at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine, and has had the privilege of teaching a number of the fine dentists that populate the Western Slope and around the country. He also serves as a mentor for dental student externs for Boston University's Goldman School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Lurye has served on numerous committees and boards, including the board of directors of medical insurance companies and dental practice liability companies. He is a Fellow in the American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists, Academy of Dentistry International, and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. He is actively involved in an international research project examining dental, head & neck anatomy in a study headquartered in San Diego.
Dr. Lurye currently serves as the Past President of the Colorado Dental Association, a 3000+ member group representing over 80% of the practicing dentists in the state, whose mission is advancing the oral health of the citizens of Colorado. You can find a link to the CDA on the Patient Resources tab at the top of the page. Dave is very interested in health care policy and has met and continues to meet with state and federal legislators as well as testifying on health-care related issues at our State Capitol.
He and his significant other Patricia Oscarson enjoy hiking, biking, running, motorcycling, working out, and hanging out with friends and all of their four-legged companions.
