Dr. DANIELA WHITESIDE, MD is a BOARD CERTIFIED OPHTHALMOLOGISTDaniela M. Whiteside, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in medical retina and general ophthalmology. She offers services in treating diabetic retinopathy, macular edema, macular degeneration, retinal tears, as well as general eye diseases.Dr. Whiteside received her Doctorate Degree in Medicine from the University of Lübeck in Germany. She then finished her first two years of Ophthalmology Residency at the Retinal Center at Phillips University in Marburg/Germany. She subsequently was awarded a research fellowship by the German Government (DFG) and spent two years doing retinal research at the USC Microbiology/ Immunology Department in Columbia, South Carolina. She completed both her internship in Medicine and her residency in Ophthalmology at The University of South Carolina.Dr. Whiteside then became Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of South Carolina where she taught residents.
