Dr. Cohen graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Pennsylvania in 1974 and then graduated with his Medical Doctor (MD) degree from the New York University (NYU) School of Medicine Alpha Omega Alpha in 1978. he was the winner of the Samuel Spiegel Prize for distinguished student in Internal Medicine at NYU. then, he completed his residency in internal medicine from the New York Presbyterian Hospital - Columbia Campus. From 1981 to 1984 he completed his fellowship in rheumatology at NYU School of Medicine. In 1981, he obtained his board certification in internal medicine issued by the American Board of Internal Medicine and in 1984, he obtained his board certification in rheumatology. He is recognized as an expert in rheumatology, amyloidosis and Familial Mediterranean Fever. Dr. Cohen also has particular interests in osteoporosis and was one of the first practitioners to bring bone densitometry to Long Island, NY.
Dr. Cohen has also published numerous articles in his areas of expertise and is highly recognized rheumatologist. He is the winner of the Castle Connolly Top Doctors award from 2002-2008 and 2010-2015. this award is given to doctors in the New York Metro Area who are highly recommended by their peers and other healthcare professionals. His two children are Attorney Arthur Cohen, a graduate of St. Andrews University Scotland with Prince William and Princess Kate. Olivia Cohen is a medical student at Penn (The Perelman School of Medicine). She is presently a second year law student at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Dr. Cohen's undergraduate Alma Mater, 1974.
