Brief Intro

Daniel E. Walzman, M.D. is the Chief of Vascular and Endovascular Neurosurgery and Director of Neurointerventional Services at the Heart and Vascular Hospital at Hackensack University Medical Center. As a leader in neurovascular and endovascular surgery, Dr. Walzman has experience with cerebrovascular disorders, endovascular neurosurgery, and interventional neuroradiology, along with the full array of cranial and spinal neurosurgical care. 

Dr. Walzman attended Rutgers/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and completed his residency at Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Walzman is the youngest physician ever to complete neurosurgical training at Mount Sinai Hospital, and served as Chief Resident during his time there. Additionally, Dr. Walzman completed a fellowship in Endovascular Neurosurgery and Interventional Neuroradiology at the Institute for Neurology and Neurosurgery at Beth Israel North Hospital, Mount Sinai Hospital. 

An innovator in his field, Dr. Walzman holds ten U.S. patents for medical devices and treatments to improve quality of care. Dr. Walzman was one of the first neurosurgeons in New Jersey to perform minimally invasive embolization procedures for the treatment of intracranial aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations, and the first in Bergen County to utilize the Merci retrieval device for the treatment of ischemic strokes. Dr. Walzman also serves as the primary investigator for multiple clinical trials for the treatment of strokes and aneurysms.
