Dr. Christopher Knotts is a fellowship-trained, board-certified plastic surgeon at the Plastic Surgery Institute of New Mexico in Albuquerque. His specialty is cosmetic surgery of the face, breast and body. A native New Mexican, Dr. Knotts came to plastic surgery via a circuitous route. He explored engineering and journalism as an undergraduate, but a strong interest in the sciences led him to experience a human gross anatomy laboratory, where his passion for appreciating the human form was born. Dr. Knotts graduated first in his college as an undergraduate and was granted early admission to medical school at the University of New Mexico. He was accepted into one of the most competitive surgical programs in the nation, an accelerated 5-year residency in general and plastic surgery. From the University of Oklahoma, Dr. Knotts subspecialized in Cosmetic & Aesthetic Surgery by completing a 1-year accredited fellowship in Charlotte, NC. Dr. Knotts worked for 7 years in the Washington DC area where he was voted Best Plastic Surgeon and Best Plastic Surgery Practice in the DC metro area. His contributions to the specialty of plastic surgery have been recognized in multiple book chapters, peer-reviewed journal articles and online resident education courses. Beyond his training and expertise in cosmetic surgery, Dr. Knotts also takes interest in cycling, backpacking and collecting mid-century furniture.
