Brief Intro

Dr. Catherine Cashman is triple board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Adult, Child & Adolescent, and Forensic Psychiatry. Dr. Cashman holds two Bachelors of Science – one from New York University in Finance, and another from the University of New Orleans in Biology. She earned her medical degree from Nova Southeastern University and then began an Adult Psychiatry residency at the LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. She then completed two fellowships. The first was in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at LSU New Orleans while simultaneously earning a certification in Infant Mental Health, working with caregivers and children ages 0 – 6 years. The second was in Forensic Psychiatry at the University of Rochester and the Rochester Regional Forensic Unit.

After completing her training, Dr. Cashman was employed at Tulane University School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry, primarily treating forensic inpatients. In 2022, Dr. Cashman returned to New York to work for the Office of Mental Health and treat patients with serious mental illness.

Dr. Cashman has experience providing expert witness testimony since 2012 and maintains medical licenses in New York and Louisiana. She received additional training in competency assessment from the primary creator of the Evaluation of Competency to Stand Trial-Revised (ECST-R) and has significant experience administering the HCR-20 v3 Risk Assessment tool.
