Bruce N. Le, D.O., M.S. received his medical degree at the COMP, Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, CA. While at COMP, Dr. Le became interested in military service and was given a scholarship into the US Army HPS Program. Upon completion, Dr. Le headed east for internship at Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills, MI and orthopaedic residency at PCOM in Philadelphia, PA. While in Philly, Dr. Le received sports medicine training with teams physicians for the NBA 76'ers, the NFL Flyers and the NFL Eagles. His surgical training included arthroscopic techniques at The Graduate and City Ave Hospital, trauma at Cooper University Medical Center, and pediatrics at the AI DuPont Institute. For his effort, he was awarded Best Resident at the Methodist Hospital and became the Chief Resident. At PCOM, Dr. Le initiated studies in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction at The Gait Analysis Institute of Philadelphia and performed mechanical stress testing at the University of Pennsylvania. He defended his thesis and was awarded a Master of Clinical Science in Orthopaedic Surgery by the Army Surgeon General, LTG Ronald Blank. Once completed with medical studies, Dr. Le entered active US Army service as a Captain and spent 6 months in military training. He completed several courses in preparation for combat deployment, becoming the PROFIS Chief, Orthopaedic Surgery for the 14th Field Hospital at Fort Benning, GA. His duties also include training resident doctors and physician assistant. While at 'The Home of the Infantry', Dr. Le was involved with the 75th Ranger Regiment and was the 'team' surgeon for the prestigious US Army Best Ranger Competition. During Operation Allied Forge, the protection of Kosovo Albanians, Dr. Le was deployed to Europe and was attached to the 67th Combat Support Hospital in support of the 1st Infantry Division. He was promoted to Major. While on Active Duty, the US Army sponsored added training and fellowship at the world renowned Hughston Sports Medicine Clinic. Dr. Le was trained in advance shoulder, elbow and knee arthroscopic reconstruction and was involved in research and cadaveric training of orthopaedic surgeons for the Southern Orthopaedic Society. Despite an offer to stay on staff at The Hughston Clinic, Dr. Le elected to return to California and was recruited to Visalia by Orthopaedic Associated Medical Clinic. While maintaining a busy sports practice in Visalia, he continues to donate time with local and national societies. His adventures have included staffing the MotoGP motorcycle race at Laguna Seca and covering sporting events for local high school and colleges. He has served as Chief of Surgery at Kaweah Delta Medical Center, lectured to students at Fresno State, presented studies and paneled discussions at national meetings and has taught cadaveric courses to surgeons all over the country. The AOBOS, a national certifying board for orthopaedic surgeons, invited Dr. Le to write test question, Chair the Oral Boards and, eventually, nominated him to become one of five voting members, rising to the Chairman position in 2012.
