Dr. Plaisier says he choose his career in medicine when a fellow student in a college biology class remarked how much he reminded him of his father who was a physician. He found a calling in the earliest days of his residency in the intensive care unit. He gets excited to come to work each day when he gets to be a part of a highly functioning team whose mission it is to save lives and return loved ones to their families. He knows that this isn’t always possible and, when this happens, “we are providers of comfort, always.” The biggest influences in Dr. Plaisier’s life have been the professors in his fellowship who showed him that the art of medicine is as important as the science. He also credits his wife who has been, and continues to be, a source of his strength over the years. In his free time, Dr. Plaisier enjoys birdwatching, Okinawan karate and hiking with his wife and their dogs. He also sponsors a child in poverty. Dr. Plaisier and his wife, Liz, have been pleased to call Kalamazoo home for more than 20 years and have always trusted Bronson for all of their healthcare needs.Caring for the critically ill and injured has been a calling for me since the earliest days of my residency. Over the years, it has been my privilege to be part of highly functioning teams whose mission it is to save lives and return loved ones to their families. When this is not possible, we provide comfort always. It is my honor to be part of the critical care team at Bronson.
