Brief Intro

Dr. Maiocco is a native Floridian from Miami. He attended college at the University of Miami, graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine, where he received many honors including the Barry D. Stein Award for the most outstanding student in Orthopedics & Rehabilitation. Dr. Maiocco completed a general surgery internship followed by an orthopaedic surgery residency at the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans. Dr. Maiocco then completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. While there, he was a Clinical Instructor to medical students and orthopedic residents at the Georgetown Medical School. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and also has a Board Certification in Sports Medicine. Dr. Maiocco has been a consultant to Olympic, professional, and collegiate athletes, including: US Olympic Track team, US Olympic Gymnastics team, Washington Redskins, Baltimore Orioles, and D.C. United. He treats athletes from the New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays, professional golfers,professional boxers, and elite runners and triathletes. Dr. Maiocco is currently the team physician for Tarpon Springs High School, Pasco Hernando Community College, and Clearwater Christian College. Dr. Maiocco utilizes both non-surgical and surgical treatment to help his patients return to an active lifestyle. When surgery is necessary, he performs the latest techniques in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, elbow, knee and ankle, including cartilage transplantation and ligament reconstruction. Dr. Maiocco and his family live in Crystal Beach. In his free time Dr. Maiocco enjoys participating in triathlons, snowboarding, golf, and soccer.
