Brief Intro

Dr. Bill Barnhill, a native of the Texas Panhandle grew up in Matador Texas, graduating from Matador High School in 1972. He received All State Football Honors his senior year. He continued his education at Texas Tech University and obtained his undergraduate degree in 1976. He then attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School In Dallas. Following his internship and residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas he continued his education with internships in Norwich England and a Fellowship in Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine Knee Surgery with J.R. Steadman, M.D., in South Lake Tahoe, CA. Dr. Barnhill returned to the Texas Panhandle in 1986 to begin his private practice in Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. His primary focus is injuries to the knee and shoulder. Dr. Barnhill received his Board Certification in 1989. He was honored to become one of the US ski team physicians in 1988 and he continues to travel with the team to competitions all over the world on a yearly basis. He also is the team physician for numerous high school and college football teams including WTAMU and Eastern New Mexico. His interest in sports medicine has led Dr. Barnhill to conduct research on football cleat design and football field surfaces comparing natural grass to Fieldturf. These studies have been published in The American Journal of Sports Medicine. Dr. Barnhill is a member of the AANA and AOSSM. In his spare time Dr. Barnhill is an avid skier and enjoys playing golf, traveling and spending time with his wife Christina and their children.
