Dr. Holt was born in Florence, Alabama, and grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee. After residency, he completed a Fellowship in Total Joint Replacement at the Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic and Research Institute in Washington, D.C.After his fellowship, Dr. Holt joined the Columbia Orthopaedic Group in August 1994. He is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery. His practice is devoted to the treatment of arthritic conditions of the hip and knee. He uses various treatment approaches including both non-surgical and surgical means. Non-surgical treatment options he employs include exercises, oral medications, injections, weight loss, and braces. Dr. Holt says that many patients do not need surgery. However, when surgery is indicated, he is very experienced, having performed over 11,000 hip and knee surgeries during his career at COG.Dr. Holt has served on various committees at Boone Hospital Center. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Joint Replacement Center at Boone Hospital. He has published research articles in Orthopaedic journals. He has made presentations on various joint replacement topics as well as on maintaining a healthy lifestyle. He has been an instructor of physicians providing hands-on training in various aspects of joint replacement surgery of the hip and knee. He was also named to “Inside Columbia” magazine’s list of Top Doctors in Columbia, MO.
