Dr. Alsop grew up in Salina, Kansas and attended Duke University for his undergraduate education. He went to medical school at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he also completed a residency in Internal Medicine. Before starting his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at KU, Ben served as a Chief Resident in Internal Medicine. Prior to joining Summit Gastroenterology, he held academic appointments at the University of Kansas and University of Iowa Medical Centers, as well as at the Veterans Affairs Medical Centers in Kansas City and Iowa City. Dr. Alsop actively maintains board certification in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Among his broad clinical interests are colon cancer screening, endoscopic therapy, and diseases of the luminal GI tract - -particularly those of the upper GI tract including GERD and its complications. Ben enjoys spending time with his family and loves to cook, including competition barbecue.
