Dr. Kostick is a California native but grew up in Arizona. As an undergraduate, she attended Arizona State University. For medical school, she traveled north to the University of Colorado School of Medicine and developed a love of skiing. During postgraduate training in Minnesota, she met her husband. They have two children. Besides practicing medicine, she enjoys traveling, skiing, gardening and any activity that gets her outside.
Dr. Kostick was the first woman elected president of Washington Hospital Medical Staff in 1988. She served as Trustee for Washington Hospital Healthcare Foundation from 1990-1998. She is board certified in Family Medicine and a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. In 2000, she was elected president of the California Academy of Family Physicians. She serves on national task forces and commissions on public health issues.
One of Dr. Kostick’s interests is medical education of physicians, students and patients. She is currently teaching medical students from University of California School of Medicine in her office and is the medical director of community education for Washington Hospital. Part of community education is the Washington InHealth Channel 78. She hosts two programs. One program, “Voices InHealth†interviews medical experts to discuss different treatment options. The other show is a round table discussion about patient health called “Your Concerns InHealth.â€
