Dr. VanWinkle hails from the Chicago area and graduated with honors from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1977. She has been practicing medicine since graduation from Chicago Medical School in 1981. She served as a flight surgeon and Brigade surgeon in the 101st Air Assault Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. She completed her Orthopedic training at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas and left the US Army after eleven years. Dr. VanWinkle has lived and worked in this area since 1992. She has extensive experience in shoulder problems as well as performing joint arthroscopies, treating fractures, joint and spine problems, and motor vehicle accident injuries. She enjoys spending time with her better half, Jerry (a retired police officer), her rescue dog Spot and her horses; an Arabian and a Tennessee walker.
