Anita Ruffino Stiffelman, M.D. has been practicing pediatrics in North County since 1990. She initially came from New York in 1979 to attend Washington University with a National Merit Scholarship. She graduated from New York Medical College in 1987, and returned to St. Louis for residency at St. Louis Childrens Hospital. Dr. Stiffelman entered private practice in 1990, and founded Rainbow Pediatrics in 1992. She maintains certification with the American Board of Pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Stiffelman has appointment as an Associate Professor in clinical pediatrics with Washington University School of Medicine. In this role she mentors medical students in the art of primary care pediatrics. She also serves as a preceptor for a resident from St. Louis Childrens Hospital. As Chief of Pediatrics at Christian Hospital, Dr. Stiffelman is outspoken in promoting resources for children within the community. She has spearheaded a number of community health care initiatives. As founding board president of Circus Day Foundation based at the City Museum, she helped children build community and leap across cultural barriers using circus arts. On weekends, she can often be found cheering on her husband in a bicycle race, or one of her athletic daughters in the gym or on the soccer field. Dr. Stiffelmans greatest career satisfaction comes from nurturing long-lasting relationships with the families she serves. In recent years, Ive enjoyed becoming a grandpediatrician as former patients return as parents. I am energized by a sense of mission to educate families. Our lifestyle choices affect our precious childrens future health and well-being. Using Rainbow Pediatrics as a caring pediatric home, we can educate parents to give their children every advantage for health and success in life.
