Dr. Andy Hand is a native Texan who has traveled the country and world throughout his life. Although he has returned to Texas many times over the years, military and academic pursuits have kept him from setting his roots. He could have practiced anywhere but is proud to now call Central Texas home.
Dr. Hand served his country honorably for 8 years in the medical field and separated from his military service while in South Carolina, where he subsequently graduated from the University of South Carolina with both undergraduate and medical degrees. He was acknowledged for his high academic achievements as indicated by induction into the Golden Key International Honour Society as well as receiving the Dean's Scholarship during medical school.
He again returned to Texas for his general surgery internship training at the Methodist Hospital in Dallas. There he trained alongside numerous prominent plastic surgeons, which further fueled his interest in plastic surgery. He subsequently traveled to the Midwest where he completed his general surgery training in Wisconsin at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation, one of the top community surgery programs in the country. There he consistently performed among the top of his peers on the American Board of Surgery Inservice Exam and authored multiple research papers in the surgical literature and presented at regional meetings. He was also given the honor of being chosen to be an instructor of Advanced Trauma Life Support for the American College of Surgeons.
With an inextinquishable passion for the art and science of plastic and reconstructive surgery, Dr. Hand went on to complete an accredited residency in plastic surgery at the Wayne State University School of Medicine program, one of the largest medical communities in Michigan and the Midwest. He is a fully trained plastic surgeon whose training included access to over 9 regional hospitals and numerous private plastic surgeon offices and surgery centers. Because of this extensive exposure, he trained under some of the most famous and prominent plastic surgeons in the world, learning the latest techniques in both aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Hand was frequently acknowledged by his mentors for his superior operative ability and technique and instincts for the art of aesthetic surgery. With his substantial interest in the field of aesthetic surgery, Dr. Hand finished his training with an unparalleled experience in face, breast and body cosmetic surgery. To maintain this level, he plans on regularly traveling throughout the country to research techniques on facelift, rhinoplasty, breast surgery and other procedures.
With his extensive amount of exposure and training alongside the top surgeons in both Dallas and the Midwest, Dr. Hand takes great pride and pleasure in calling Waco his home, bringing with him world-class plastic surgery training.
