Dr. Filippov has completed residency training in internal medicine, clinical anesthesia and family practice medicine, and earned a PhD through a fellowship in cardiology. After receiving his medical degree in Moscow, Russia in 1983, he practiced cardiology in his home country for nine years. He also served as staff doctor on the nuclear icebreaker Antarctica for one year. In 1992 he came to the United States to begin his residency training in anesthesiology in Boston. He now practices at Anna Jaques Hospital and Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River.
