Dr. Billett received her MD from Harvard Medical School in 1984. After completing a residency in pediatrics at the University of Washington Hospitals, she completed a fellowship in pediatric hematology-oncology at Children's Hospital Boston and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and became a staff physician in the pediatric hematology/oncology program in 1990. She was the medical director of the inpatient oncology service at Children's Hospital 1995-2005. Dr. Billett has participated in multiple projects involving improving systems of care, including development of a pediatric chemotherapy order entry system, implementation of the joint CH-DFCI pediatric electronic health record. She is currently the medical director for patient safety and quality in the pediatric hematology/oncology program, the leader of the pediatric lymphoma program, and an active clinician in the program. She is a clinical faculty leader of the newly established national collaborative to reduce catheter-associated blood stream infections in pediatric hematology/oncology patients.
