Dr. Amr M. Moursi
Dr. Amr M. Moursi, a pediatric dentist and research scientist, is Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the New York University College of Dentistry and an Attending Dentist on the medical staff at New York University Medical Center and the Bellevue Hospital Center in New York. He has also maintained a private practice since 1988. Dr. Moursi is fluent in Arabic.
Dr. Moursi received a D.D.S. degree from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, pediatric dentistry residency training at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, and a Ph.D. in Craniofacial Biology from the University of California at San Francisco. He is a board certified Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Moursi was formerly Associate Professor of Pediatric Dentistry at Ohio State University College of Dentistry and Director of the Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program at Columbus Children’s Hospital. Dr. Moursi was also a member of the medical staff at Columbus Children’s Hospital and President of the Ohio Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He has also served as a Senior Research Fellow at the Eastman Dental Institute at the University of London.
He is currently a member of the Examination Committee for the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a Consultant and Site Visitor for the Commission on Dental Accreditation for the American Dental Association. He has been appointed to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Leadership Institute at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. He is also a member of the Advisory Council for the Children of Bellevue, an organization that supports pediatric patients and their families at Bellevue Hospital Center.
Dr. Moursi’s research focuses on birth defects of the head and skull and infant oral health. He is the author or coauthor of over 50 published articles, book chapters and abstracts. He is also Editor of the upcoming textbook Clinical Cases in Pediatric Dentistry (Blackwell). He has been an invited speaker at universities and conferences throughout the United States, Europe, Africa, South America and the Middle East. In addition, Dr. Moursi has led teams of pediatric dentists to provide treatment, education and training to underserved sites throughout the world including, Tanzania, Alaska and Nicaragua.
Dr. Moursi and his department have been featured on ABC Television’s Good Morning America, Sirius Satellite Radio, New York’s Channel 7, Fox 5 and NY1 News, and several New York newspapers and radio programs.
