Aloysius G. Smith, M.D., Medical Director of Plastic Surgery Associates of New York, is a leader in plastic surgery. His career as a plastic and reconstructive surgeon spans over 20 years and today he is the director of plastic surgery at four major teaching hospitals in New York City and Westchester. He has also been named one of "New York's Best" plastic surgeons by the prestigious Castle-Connolly survey and New York magazine. Board-certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Smith is also a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery. After completing his medical degree at the University of the West Indies, he served an internship at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Barbados. He then completed fellowships in general surgery and hand surgery at New York Medical College/Metropolitan Hospital Center in New York. He received his fellowship in plastic surgery at the world-renowned Mayo Graduate School of Medicine/ Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Smith is a member of the faculty of New York Medical College, where he serves as Assistant Professor of Surgery. At Lincoln Hospital, he also serves as Director of Hand & Plastic Surgery and Director of the Sylvester J. Carter Hand Fellowship Training Program. In his teaching capacity, Dr. Smith is responsible for training the next generation of plastic surgeons in the latest surgical knowledge and techniques. He is also Director of Plastic Surgery at Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center and St. Barnabas Hospital and Medical Center in The Bronx, and St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Westchester. He is also an Attending Physician at St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center in Manhattan.
