Alexander J. Alvarez, MD, co-founded the practice of Greater Waterbury Primary Care Associates (now Primary Care Partners PC) in 1991 as Chief Medical Officer, President and Senior Partner/Owner. Dr. Alvarez holds bachelors degrees in modern languages and psychology from Central Connecticut State University, where he also completed the Masters Degree Education Program. He received his medical degree from the Universidad Tecnologica de Santiago, and completed his internship and residency in general surgery and as well as his internship and residency in internal medicine at Saint Marys Hospital. He also received a degree in foreign language studies from the Universidad de Malaga in Spain. He is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese and speaks some Italian. Board-certified in internal medicine, he was previously in practice in Wolcott with Associates in Internal Medicine. Dr. Alvarez has been a clinical instructor in the Yale University School of Medicine Primary Care Program since 1995. He has been a member of the medical staff at Saint Marys Hospital since 1990.
