Dr. Akit Patel is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology with additional expertise in Endoscopic Ultrasound, ERCP, and pancreaticobiliary disease. Dr. Patel received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA. He earned his Doctorate in Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA. He completed his Internal Medicine internship and residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX where he was also Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine before moving on to a specialization in gastroenterology. He then completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, TX, as well as an additional fellowship in Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy. He has specialized training in Advanced Endoscopy techniques including Endoscopic Ultrasound, ERCP, tumor ablation, endoscopic mucosal resection, and endoscopic suturing. Dr. Patel has co-authored several publications and is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American College of Physicians, and American Medical Association. Dr. Patel is married and enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and watching movies.
