After finishing undergraduate training in chemistry at Union College in Schenectady, N.Y., in 1973, Alex B. Bodenstab received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia four years later. He then completed a general surgery internship and residency with Dartmouth Affiliated Hospitals in New Hampshire, and orthopaedic surgical residency in New York City at Cornell University's Hospital for Special Surgery.
He has been in private practice for orthopaedic surgery in Wilmington since 1982 and has held certification from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons since 1984. Dr. Bodenstab is presently a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Philadelphia Orthopaedic Society, the Delaware Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Medical Society of Delaware, and the New Castle County Medical Society. He is affiliated with both Christiana Care Health System and St. Francis Hospital.
Dr. Bodenstab is an author of "Arthroscopic Bankart Suture Repair: Technique and Early Results," which appeared in Arthroscopy: The Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery. He serves on the Center for Advanced Joint Replacement Interdisciplinary Performance Improvement Meeting committee.
